Green dentistry: a systematic review for objective and subjective research

Dentistry's significant environmental impact and resource-intensive nature are concerning issues. Factors such as the effects of biomaterials throughout lifecycle, radiation usage, hazardous waste generation, including mercury lead, need careful consideration. To counteract consequences global warming, there is a growing push to incorporate sustainability green solutions. In response, dentists must transition from conventional practices sustainable ones, embracing "green dentistry," which integrates development principles into dental care, underpinned by 4 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Rethink, Recycle. assess knowledge, attitude, professionals towards dentistry, questionnaire-based study was conducted. The search for relevant literature encompassed terms like "eco-friendly "recycling waste," "sustainability in dentistry" through PubMed 2001 2023, English-language scientific grey literature. Analysis professionals' responses revealed notable disparities eco-friendly dentistry knowledge between postgraduates (97.1%) undergraduates (84.7%). Postgraduates exhibited better awareness sterilization pouch disposal (68.1% vs. 49.2%) (85.5% 61.9%). A substantial 82.9% recognized potential equipment recycling. While 16 articles were found database, spanning originating various sources, broader exploration quantitative qualitative data on extraction limited. There's dearth national research trends this field. participants displayed satisfactory eco-dentistry, along with reasonable attitudes adoption rates. However, continuous high-quality essential comprehensively understand impacts environmentally friendly practices.
